The exhibition floor is a vibrant testament to this sustainability shift, with companies from across the globe showcasing technologies designed to meet this new environmental mandate. As one paper industry veteran shared with PrintWeek, The debate over whether paper can truly replace plastic in packaging is a central theme at Paperex 2025. Many companies like Mitsui Chemicals, Siegwerk and Archroma are leading the charge with innovative coating solutions.

Mitsui Chemicals India is showcasing a suite of innovative coating technologies designed for sustainable, high-performance paper packaging, including ChemiPearl, Takelac, Bonron and Bariastar. Likewise Siegwerk is thrilling attendees with its latest coatings solutions, including its Cirkit coatings for the food service industry and beyond. Their showcase emphasises how their localized Indian portfolio, backed by global know-how, helps brands achieve true circularity. Meanwhile Archroma Packaging Technologies is presenting its sustainable chemistry innovations, featuring an expansive range of products—including adhesives, barriers, binders, coatings, and inks—all engineered to boost performance while prioritising sustainability. While Apcotex is addressing the realities of modern coating and printing with high-performance binders. They are showcasing solutions, from SBR binders to next-gen styrene acrylic systems, engineered for stronger bonding, smoother films, and reliable, sustainable print performance in high-speed production environments.

The move away from single-use plastics is being spearheaded by innovative paperboards. JK Paper has introduced The Aqua Series, an advanced aqueous barrier coated paper board. This innovation is specifically designed as a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic packaging, protecting both products and the planet without compromising operational efficiency or end-use performance. Knam Marketing is supporting the global paper community by presenting its high-quality Paper Stocklots, with a strong emphasis on reliability, quality standards, and responsible sourcing.

The machinery and process sector is focused on enabling sustainable production. Team PrintWeek saw AstenJohnson engaging in critical conversations around innovations in paper machine clothing, advanced forming, pressing, and drying solutions, and the implementation of sustainable manufacturing and energy-efficient technologies to help mills reduce downtime and improve performance. Meanwhile Timken is showcasing how its advanced bearing and power transmission solutions drive efficiency and performance. The company is committed to empowering the paper and packaging sector with durability, precision, and sustainability in its core technologies. And AFT is on site to assist visitors in optimising their process, offering new solutions for crucial steps like pulping, screening, refining, and approach flow.

The message from Paperex is: the Indian paper industry is not just adapting to the sustainability mandate—it is embracing and accelerating it. Paperex 2025 is more than an exhibition; it is a collaborative platform building the foundation for a truly circular and eco-friendly packaging ecosystem.
