Onyx Testing Machines showcased a range of quality control instruments at the CorruPack in Mumbai. The highlights included the bursting strength tester designed for paper and corrugated board, alongside a suite of specialised equipment for the packaging industry.

Haamid Khan of Onyx Testing Machines noted that the feedback at the show has been positive, with several machines already sold during the first two days. He highlighted a new double-head model for the bursting strength tester, which was specifically developed to meet the requirements of corrugated box manufacturers who need to test both paper and finished board on a single instrument.

The Onyx portfolio on display also featured the crush strength tester for evaluating ring crush test (RCT) and edge crush test (ECT) values. Other key instruments included the Cobb sizing tester, GSM tester for grammage verification, scuff tester for print quality assessment, and the box compression tester used to determine the structural integrity of finished corrugated boxes.

Operating from a manufacturing unit in Thane, Onyx functions as an original equipment manufacturer. Khan confirmed that while some raw materials are imported, the manufacturing process is handled locally. The company operates through a direct sales and supply team rather than third-party distributors.

According to Khan, the company’s customer base spans the entire supply chain from paper mills and corrugated box converters to major end-users. Notable clients mentioned include PepsiCo, Patanjali, and Godrej, as these brands maintain in-house testing protocols to ensure the quality of the packaging materials they receive from suppliers.
