Towards this end, the company has launched an Android app for revenue collection (circulation as well as the advertisement). “This will allow users to keep connected to the main office in real time, will help serve business associates better and will plug revenue leakages,” Ashish Aron of 4CPlus said.

The company will also highlight DesignAir, a cloud-based pagination system that allows collaborative page making/ editing and helps reduce the cost of page-making software.

According to Aron, the industry has been recovering slowly but the major concern has been the rising cost of newsprint. Meanwhile, C4Plus has done well with The New Indian Express Group now on NewsWrap, while Amar Ujala successfully implemented CIO|365 advertisement management system and Layout-X page planning system. The Times of India group has also completed the consolidation of all its language publications on NewsWrap. Export order books are also looking up.

For the future, the company’s focus will be on cloud-based solutions that require minimal investment for publications in terms of cap-ex and op-ex. “Cloud and Software as a Service (SaaS) is the future of the publishing industry as far as enterprise applications are concerned. Digital platforms and monetisation of digital assets would also be a focus area,” Aron added.
