Manoj Mehta’s 10 Commandments

Introspect
Ask yourself, what is it in your business that makes you happy? Is it being recognised as a creative packaging printer? As a screen printer with maximum turnover? As a print firm that applies latest technologies?

Finding this answer is your job half done.

Create your niche
Be the master of one. Once you know your direction, identify your strengths to achieve it and then work towards it.

Leave the stereotypes behind
The print industry is going through major transformations. Look at the way technology has changed the consumer behavior. Paperboat Beverages is an example of how innovative, brand-driven packaging can sell the product off the shelf. Right from its brand name, the entire product has been well thought of.

This is just one example of the many existing available product developed.

Improve. Innovate. Ideate
Innovate to survive and thrive. And this must be a continuous effort that will take you ahead in the current competitive scenario. There will always a better way to do the same thing. A process that is simpler and cuts time, or costs, or produces better results. Keep an open mind and expose yourself to various technological advancements in print, participate in exhibitions, know the world trends. Knowledge is the secret weapon.

Think Futuristic
A decade ago, it was digital printing. And today 3D is the future of printing. Think what the future of your industry is coming to. Better still, bring future to the world!

Benefit from Government policies
The government has a Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) that enables micro, small and medium enterprises to adopt technology to improve their productivity.

Return on investment
Manage the finance effciently by considering resources, material and personnel costs. This will play a big role in determining your profit margins. Plan well. Better still, study what the market wants and offer ‘Make in India’ products or services that nobody has offered. And watch your profit margins scale new heights.

Sell orange juice rather than selling oranges for better business
How does Make in India concept apply to our business? Some of the examples that can be cited here are: Grafica Flexotronica, Wellbound Worldwide, Autoprint,

Go Global
As  the Chairman of Exports’ Promotion of All India Federation of Master Printers, I would not just request my fellow printers to look at the global standards and the demands of the world market but also like to say that there is great, untapped potential there.

India is fast becoming one of the major print producer and manufacture of printed paper products for the world markets. The quality standards have improved dramatically and immense production capacities have been created. Some printers have won recognition by winning prizes at international competition for excellence in printing.

Worship your work
Whether you are an upcoming screen printer or a small scale packaging unit, be dedicated to what you do. Be passionate about your business, service your customers well, keep your employees motivated with a positive growth environment and be rest assured about the results.
