In addition to the new unit, Olympic has a CTP house in Madurai, a digital retail chain in Nagercoil, Theni, Salem and a bigger centre in Vizag in Andhra Pradesh.

Olympic’s new 1000 sq/ft three-storey unit houses a newly commissioned Heidelberg SM52, which the company procured in the month of June last year, and a Mitsubishi 1F (20x30 in) as a part of its press setup. Apart from this, the company houses three digital machines from Ricoh, Konica Minolta and Canon. The post-press setup comprises of a Polar 78EM cutting machine, a die-cutting machine, a lamination machine, an UV machine and a foil printing machine.

Established in 2008, Olympic Prints, a part of the Olympic group, specialises in tag printings and commericial digital jobs like visiting cards, invitation cards, brochures and catalogues and caters to Madurai, Karur, Trichy, Nagercoil and Virudhunagar markets.

Mohammed Rafeek Raja, a marine engineer by qualification and a first generation entrepreneur, who oversees the business said, “The new Heidelberg SM52 will be used to produce printed tags and several short-run jobs of quantity more than 250. This switch from digital to offset is to give our clients tags with offset quality,” he added.

The company’s estimates of printed tags ranges from around 20,000 – 25,000 tags per day.

At the CTP house in Madurai, Olympic produces 300 plates per day, most of them catering to Madurai. 60% of the plates that Olympic outputs are for three colour jobs. Raja stated that, “Most printers prefer not to print black. This is the norm in these parts as a cost-cutting exercise."
