Led by spokesperson Stéphane Royère, Kurz invited visitors to embark on a creative and technological journey, highlighting its innovations in digital embellishment, software-driven design, and sustainable foil technologies.
Royère emphasised that labels begin not just with production, but with design, creativity, and emotion. To support this, Kurz showcased its Dream Proposer software, enabling printers, designers, agencies, and brand owners to digitally visualise labels with embellishments, such as gold, silver, textures, and holographic effects. The interactive design tool underlined Kurz’s mission to inspire creativity and push the boundaries of what’s possible in label design.
Visitors to the Kurz booth discovered three distinct digital embellishment technologies:
Transfer on toner technology: Demonstrated with its partner Xeikon’s Titan press, it enables precise metallic transfers via toner reactivation.
Inkjet on transfer technology: It enables decoration across a wide range of substrates, from unsupported films to uncoated papers.
Inkjet on substrate (3D technology): It delivers tactile, raised UV and spot gloss effects that represent the cutting edge of digital embellishment.
Live demonstrations and interactive VR experiences gave attendees first-hand exposure to how Kurz combines consumables and equipment solutions to enhance efficiency and industrial scalability in digital embellishment.
The booth also presented special effect ranges that captured the imagination of brands across segments such as wines, beverages, cosmetics, and premium consumer goods — Light Line for dazzling holographic effects; Silver Line for achromatic, high-end brilliance; LumaFilm for transparent embellishment solutions and LuxaFoil & LuxaFilm for traditional hot stamping with refined depth.
These innovations, combined with micro, nano, and blind embossing, reinforced how embellishment can deliver both visual appeal and tactile differentiation.
Sustainability was a central theme at the Kurz showcase. The company highlighted how its transfer foils use ultra-thin layers — with metallisation as fine as two microns — ensuring that they are fully recyclable and de-inkable, aligning with the latest PPWR regulations in Europe. Kurz has also reduced PET thickness from 12 microns to 6 microns, lowering plastic usage significantly.
Moreover, Kurz has implemented a closed-loop recycling system in Germany, where PET carrier waste from printers is collected, processed into flakes, and repurposed into new foils or textiles. This circular approach demonstrates Kurz’s commitment to sustainability without compromising on innovation.
“For every brand, the challenge is to stand out on the shelf, and embellishment is the key to differentiation,” said Stéphane Royère. “With our solutions, creativity meets technology, and sustainability meets performance. Kurz is not only pushing the boundaries of digital embellishment but also ensuring these solutions are future-proof and environmentally responsible.”
At Labelexpo Europe 2025, Kurz reaffirmed its position as a technology leader in thin film and digital embellishment, providing the industry with the tools to elevate packaging design while embracing sustainable practices.
