KOPA celebrates Printers’ Day and Karnataka Rajyotsava
The Karnataka Offset Printers’ Association (KOPA) held the Annual joint celebration of Printes’ Day and Karnataka Rajyotsava, marking the 70th year of Karnataka's formation. The event, which began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, brought together industry leaders, dignitaries and members of the printing fraternity to honour the invention of printing and the unity of the state.

The celebration featured a distinguished lineup of Dr H Sudarshan Ballal, the chairman of Manipal Hospital and Stem Pneumonics Research as well as Ravinder Reddy, president of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) and PV Sateesh Kumar, joint secretary of AIFMP.
The event’s historical context was highlighted by a tribute to Alois Senefelder, the inventor of lithography, who was born on 6 November, 1771. The printing technology, now over 200 years old, was celebrated as one of the world’s greatest inventions, crucial for the advancement and sharing of knowledge.
Prior to the main program, a successful technical session featured insights from industry experts like Prashant Atre, managing director of Toyo Ink Arets; Arup Siddhantha, deputy general manager (sales & marketing), ITC PSPD; and Sanjay Kumar, national sales manager, Tata Capital.
A key part of the celebration was the presentation of awards to recognise outstanding contributions to the industry. Vidushi Jayalakshmi KS, Padmashri awardee, editor of Sanskrit daily, Sudharma Mysuru received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Praveen Pai, partner of Srinivas Brothers was honoured in the service provider category. B Kusumakar Shetty was recognised for his work as a printer, while Srinivas Reddy received the award for allied machinery manufacturer.
The evening ended with an entertainment program with live dance performances by Varsha Dance Academy and live music from Pooja Rao and group. The evening, attended by over 300 attendees, ended with a networking dinner.
