Kiran Prayagi awarded UK’s prestigious SDC fellowship

A colour expert and the chairman of Mumbai-based Graphic Art Technology & Education, Kiran Prayagi, has been awarded one of the prestigious Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) fellowship, announced at its annual event in York, UK.

The fellowship rewards outstanding performance and distinction in the knowledge and practice of colour science and colour technology.

SDC is a leading independent professional society dedicated to advancing the science and technology of colour. It gives professionals practicing colourists a Chartered Colourist status.

Moreover, the Colour Matching Committee of SDC is the inventor of CIE Delta E formulae of CMC 1:1 and CMC 2:1, which is used widely in the graphic arts and printing industry. The world famous Colour Index book and bible for colouration formulae in the entire colour industry is the work of SDC that is being updated regularly.

Kiran Prayagi was also elected a fellow of the Indian Society of Lighting Engineers in December 2013. He has co-authored a book, Principles of Colour and Appearance Measurement, which will be published by Woodhead Publishing, London.
