In a move to modernise and expand its book printing capabilities, Kailash Graphics has installed the KnowzzleJet M660, a high-performance digital inkjet press tailored for short-run, high-quality print jobs. The machine was manufactured and installed by Monotech Systems, powered by Jetsci and Pressline. This marks a significant transition for the traditionally offset-driven company as it steps boldly into the world of digital publishing.
Led by Vaibhav Aggarwal, the second-generation entrepreneur, Kailash Graphics has been serving the publishing and educational book sector with a strong foundation built by his late father. Now, with the increasing demand for short-run and fast-turnaround jobs, the company has diversified into digital printing, aiming to deliver better speed, flexibility, and on-demand production.
“Earlier, customers had to wait up to a month for delivery. Now, we can deliver books within two to three days. This shift is not just about speed, it's about meeting market expectations head-on,” Vaibhav Aggarwal, managing director, Kailash Graphics, said.
Kailash Graphics began its journey in 2005 under the leadership of Aggarwal’s father. What started with three offset machines has grown into a robust commercial print business operating out of Sonipat. The company currently runs five single-colour and one double-colour offset press, handling jobs for publishers across India.
Though offset printing has long been their forte, the dynamic market scenario, particularly the rising demand for short-run and multi-pagination jobs, prompted the firm to re-evaluate its production mix. After a successful run in offset, Kailash Graphics has now turned to digital, making the KnowzzleJet M660 a vital piece of its future-ready print infrastructure.
“We regularly handle jobs ranging from 200 to 500 books per title, with paginations that go up to 1,600 pages. Producing such volumes with offset becomes inefficient and time-consuming,” Aggarwal said.
The KnowzzleJet M660 brings exactly what the business needed: fast output, reliable performance, and consistent print quality across varying page counts and substrates. The machine has enabled Kailash Graphics to produce up to 10,000 books per day, with a balanced mix of paperback and hardcover books, about 8,000 paperback and 1,200 hardbound books daily.
“Earlier, reprints of 100 to 300 books meant delayed schedules and underutilised capacity. Now, we can print, bind, and ship the same day if needed,” Aggarwal added.
With more than 100 print shops in the vicinity and 12 four-colour offset printers in the area, the local competition is stiff. Yet, Aggarwal believes that the KnowzzleJet M660 gives them a distinct advantage: high-speed throughput for short-run titles without the cost or complexity of offset makeready.
The machine has also proven to be an enabler of on-demand publishing, allowing the company to fulfil urgent, smaller orders efficiently. The company charges per page and operates the machine with a consistent production model that minimises downtime and maximises output.
Despite being new to digital, Vaibhav sees the shift as part of a larger transformation in Indian book publishing. With demand rising across educational and regional publishing sectors, the company is experiencing a 20% year-on-year growth, with overall business turnover exceeding INR 50-crore annually.
“Post-Covid, the demand for books has surged. Publishers want faster turnarounds, smaller inventories, and flexibility in print runs. Digital printing is the answer, and the KnowzzleJet fits perfectly into this evolving ecosystem,” Aggarwal added.
In addition to printing, Kailash Graphics handles complete finishing in-house, including cutting, binding, and packaging, ensuring full control over quality and delivery timelines.
