ITC's Filo is crafted from biodegradable, food-grade paperboard and offers a compostable solution that is grease-resistant, recyclable, and planet-friendly. Designed to replace single-use plastic packaging without compromising on safety or performance, Filo blends utility with environmental responsibility. It is a strong example of ITC’s continued investment in high-performance alternatives that serve both industry needs and ecological imperatives.
Rajesh Ponnuru, divisional chief executive at Paperboards and Specialty Papers Business, ITC, said, "As part of our commitment to circularity and innovation, we are proud to offer a range of planet-friendly, sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of several industries while improving their environmental footprint." Ponnoru added, "With the Filo Series, we set out to address a fundamental challenge—how to deliver food-safe, high-performance boards, which are sustainable and scalable. Filo is not just a product innovation; it represents a significant step in reimagining solutions for a wide range of industries seeking viable alternatives to single-use plastic."
This innovation is part of ITC’s broader strategy to drive circularity and reduce the environmental footprint of its packaging value chain. The company has been plastic neutral for four consecutive years and has adopted sustainable packaging across its entire FMCG portfolio. With solutions like the Filo Series—certified as recyclable and biodegradable respectively—and the commissioning of a moulded fibre facility in Madhya Pradesh, ITC is scaling performance-led alternatives to single-use plastic. Reinforcing its commitment, ITC has set 2030 targets to sustain plastic neutrality and expand packaging innovations that advance responsible and scalable alternatives, as part of its integrated environmental goals across climate, water, and biodiversity.
The Filo Series underscores ITC’s ability to create packaging innovations that meet the evolving needs of businesses and consumers alike, delivering on safety, scale, and sustainability.
