Goyal Offset boosts textbook production with Heidelberg
Sonepat-based Goyal Offset Works has announced the installation of the Heidelberg Speedmaster SX 102 eight-colour perfector press at its 3,00,000-sqft production facility in the Kundli. This strategic investment further strengthens the company’s leadership in the academic publishing segment, reinforcing its commitment to high-quality, high-speed, and high-efficiency printing.

The newly installed SX 102 perfectly complements the Heidelberg CX 92 four-colour press, which was added earlier this year, deepening Goyal Offset Works’ Heidelberg-focused production ecosystem. With this addition, the company is better equipped to serve the growing demand for textbook printing, particularly during peak academic seasons.
Founded in 1978 by CL Goyal in Delhi’s Daya Basti, Goyal Offset Works has grown from a modest commercial print shop into a technologically advanced, multi-storey facility in Sonepat. Today, the company is led by second- and third-generation directors, Prince Goyal and Ramit Goyal, who continue to build on the company’s strong legacy of innovation and operational excellence.
Ramit Goyal, director, Goyal Offset Works, said, “Our earlier investments in Heidelberg presses delivered strong ROI, but the installation of the Speedmaster CX 92 and now the SX 102 eight-colour perfector has dramatically elevated our production capabilities. The SX 102 has effectively doubled our output for long-run textbook jobs, delivering unmatched consistency and efficiency.”
Educational printing remains the company’s core strength. Goyal Offset Works has firmly established itself in this domain, producing a wide range of printed material, including textbooks, exam preparation books, children’s titles, and general trade publications. Although it also caters to seasonal demand for diaries and calendars between May and August, textbook printing dominates the annual production schedule. The Speedmaster SX 102 eight-colour perfector is especially suited to this segment, designed for high-volume, double-sided printing that is ideal for long runs of textbooks. The decision to invest in this press was made following a detailed evaluation of the technology at drupa 2024, where the press’s advanced automation and print capabilities stood out.
Goyal Offset Works has steadily built one of India’s most comprehensive Heidelberg press lines. Its current production setup features a combination of refurbished and new presses ranging from two-colour to ten-colour configurations. The addition of the brand-new Heidelberg CX 92 four-colour press and the latest SX 102 eight-colour perfector expands this capability even further. Supporting this robust press lineup is an integrated pre-press and post-press infrastructure that includes three Polar cutting machines, eight Heidelberg Stahl folding machines, and a wide range of binding and gathering equipment. Additional finishing processes such as shrink-wrapping, lamination, and carton packing are powered by equipment sourced from Indian OEMs, creating a seamless, end-to-end production workflow.
The Speedmaster SX 102 has been configured to match the 92-format used in the CX 92, allowing seamless job transfers and format consistency across presses. Operating at a maximum speed of 14,000 sheets per hour and featuring a print area of 640 × 920 mm, the SX102 is optimised for rapid, high-quality output. This is particularly beneficial for academic publishers who work under tight timelines. Goyal added, “While our refurbished equipment continues to deliver value, investing in next-generation technology is essential for future-ready operations. The Speedmaster SX 102 gives us the precision, speed, and reliability we need to stay ahead.”
As a family-run enterprise, Goyal Offset Works continues to operate under the values and vision established by its founder. CL Goyal remains actively involved, with Prince Goyal leading operations and mentoring the next generation. “Learning from my father and grandfather is a privilege,” said Ramit Goyal said. “Combining their wisdom with the latest technology gives us a unique edge in this industry.”
Recently, Ramit Goyal and his son, Prince Goyal, participated in a Heidelberg India-organised tour of the Heidelberg Print Media Centre in Shanghai. Reflecting on the experience, Goyal said, “The entire experience was truly exemplary. We had a well-organised and insightful tour of the Heidelberg Print Media Centre in Shanghai, followed by an impressive visit to the MK Masterwork facility in Tianjin. Additionally, visiting several Chinese packaging print production sites offered valuable industry insights. China Print itself was equally enriching, a fantastic platform to explore the latest trends and innovations shaping the future of print and packaging.”
Samir Patkar, president of Heidelberg India, said, “Goyal Offset Works exemplifies the kind of progressive, high-volume print business that the Speedmaster SX 102 is built for. It’s advanced perfecting technology and intelligent automation help scale textbook production without compromising on quality.”
With the Speedmaster SX 102 now fully operational, Goyal Offset Works is poised to redefine productivity benchmarks in academic printing. “Success in our segment depends on innovation, reliability, and consistency,” concluded Ramit. “This press is not just a technological upgrade; it’s a bold step toward setting new standards of print excellence.”
