After its international success in 2018, Frankfurter Bushmesse is all set for its 71st edition, to come out as the largest global platform for collective, social and artistic experience for the content industry. 

Every year Frankfurter Buchmesse welcomes a different country as its guest of honour to present its literature and culture and for this edition its Norway. This project will be organised by NORLA– Norwegian Literature Abroad on behalf of the Norwegian government.

At a press conference held on 4 June at Museum Angewandte Kunst, Norway declared its slogan 'The dream we carry' for Frankfurter Bushmesse 2019.

In addition to the literary programme, Norway will have an extensive cultural interchange programme across national borders for publishers, printers, authors, media and other allied Industries encompassing fine art, performing arts, music, film and architecture.

Erika Fatland and Karl Ove Knausgård will be the literary speakers at the opening ceremony of the event. The five-day annual event comprises of various affairs like the business club, market and arts+.

When Printweek India spoke to Juergen Boos, president and CEO of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2018, he was upbeat about the publishing sector in India. “So much is happening in India right now in terms of domestic consumption of print and video content.”

While the Indian publishing industry still continues to grow, the trends are highly influenced by the markets in the USA, UK and with the rapid growth in the Indian print ecosystem, publishers and printers are looking forward to this exhibition in order to build a network with customers across the globe and stay updated with the new trends in the market.

For the publishing sector in India, the Frankfurt Book Fair serves as a platform to lead a sustainable collaboration with the foreign market and promote India to showcase its publishing potential.

To boost this, Chemical and Allied Export Promotion Council of India (Capexil), in association with German Book Office, New Delhi, is offering exhibition space at a subsidised cost for participants from India who hold the Importers Exporters Code Number (IEC).
