Effies 2019: McCann retains ‘agency of the year', HUL is 'client of the year'

McCann Worldgroup India retained the ‘agency of the year' accolade at The Advertising Club-organised Effies 2019, which were held in Mumbai on 11 January. The agency won a total of 39 metals (six gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze). Four Gold wins came for Ikea while two were for Paytm.

Ogilvy won the Grand Effie for ‘Getting the fixer at home to fix more' for Fevikwik. It also won a further 28 metals, which included four gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze. The gold wins came for Vodafone (two), Brooke Bond Red Label and Hamam.

DDB Mudra won a total of 11 metals including three gold. Two of the gold wins came for Stayfree while the other was for Hotstar. It also won two silver and six bronze. The Womb won four gold, two silver and three bronze Effies. The Gold wins came for Saregama Carvaan.  

FCB Ulka and TBWA India won two Gold each for ‘Sindoor-Khela - No Conditions Apply' and ‘Blink to Speak' respectively.

Rediffusion Brand Solutions (The time travelling truck), HUL (Giving fight against dirt a karmic perspective), Titan Company (Before Happily Ever After) also won a Gold each on the night.

The awards this year saw as many as 283 leaders, including 137 clients, 105 planning / agency heads, 15 media professionals and 26 specialists who adjudged the awards across Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, ensuring inclusivity and substantial category representation. The awards have year on year evolved to include new categories and represent new genres basis changing industry ecosystems, ensuring that the awards continue to stay relevant and pertinent.”
