Domino announces first sale of N730i digital press in India
Domino India has announced the first sale of its N730i digital label press in the country. The landmark deal was unveiled on the opening day of Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona and marks the arrival of Domino’s Generation 7 technology in the Indian market. While Domino refrained from announcing the name of the customer, it said, the installation is scheduled for December.

The pioneering customer is a converter in western India operating eight flexo presses and serving industrial, lubricants, pharmaceutical, health and beauty markets. Already familiar with Domino’s K600i monochrome inkjet printer, the company is expanding into high-resolution digital to manage short and medium-run jobs, variable data and growing SKU complexity. The N730i chosen is a seven-colour 1200dpi press configured with two flexo stations, one for priming and one for varnishing. It runs at up to 90 metres a minute and covers 92% of the Pantone colour gamut.
Ajay Raorane, vice president – digital printing solutions at Domino Printech India, said the investment followed a detailed evaluation process. “It is always about building a partnership with our customers. We do not look at simply selling a press, we look at their book of business and what they want to achieve in the next two or three years. Based on this we suggest the right platform, whether 600dpi or 1200dpi, standalone or hybrid,” he explained.
Raorane added that the customer underwent multiple trials and cost analysis before making the decision. “We carried out total cost of ownership exercises, sampling, and tests on their jobs. They visited our Centre of Excellence in the Netherlands, evaluated jobs for lightfastness and rub resistance in India, and spoke with Domino teams and users overseas. A key factor they cited was Domino’s direct service and support in India, which gives them confidence in uptime after such an investment,” he said.
The sale of the N730i is seen as a signal that Indian converters are ready to integrate digital into mainstream label production. By adding digital capacity to an established flexo operation, the first installation will demonstrate how short runs, faster turnaround and variable data can be handled without disrupting conventional workflows.
