Delhi’s Paras Printers goes for another Komori in three years

In a bid to revamp the company shopfloor, and to phase out its existing Dominant machines, three years ago, Delhi-based Paras Printers had installed a four-colour Komori Enthrone 429. So impressed the company was with the performance of the machine and its impact in generating revenues that it has ordered another Komori machine of the same specifications.

The new four-colour Komori Enthrone 429 was recently installed at the print firm, located in the capital’s Patparganj Industrial Area.

Insight Print Communication, the Indian representative of Komori, has installed around 10 printing presses in Patparganj Industrial Area.

Vijay Jain, the owner of Paras Printers, who started his career as a stationery supplier from Daryaganj, the traditional publishing hub in Old Delhi, said his investment in Komori was to phase out the Dominant printing machines on his shopfloor and meet his customers’ demand for quick delivery.

“The repeat order shows our confidence in the product. Our customers are becoming demanding, and most of them want quick and quality production,” he said.

Jain, who has experience of more than three decades in the industry, caters mostly to job work, while around 25% of his customers are direct clients. In the last 15 years, he has successfully upgraded his shopfloor from Dominant to Komori.

Meanwhile, he shared his concerns regarding the metallurgy and make of the new printing presses. “The new printing presses from any manufacturer are not as sturdy as they were earlier.”

The commercial printing facility is equipped with a six up Screen CTP, which produces around 3,000 digital plates per month, two Komori Enthrone 429, and post-press equipment, such as Stahl folder, paper cutting machine, perfect binder from Welbound and others.

Kshitiz, Jain’s son, an engineer by education and a promoter of new equipment, jointed the family-owned business in 2011. “These days, our customers want delivery of their jobs on their schedule, not ours. We found a new equipment to be the best solution to meet those kinds of demands,” he said.

The Jains are now planning to visit Drupa in May-June to see print production on digital inkjet printing presses.

The commercial printing company also has plans to upgrade its post-press facility. Jain said, “Our production capacity has increased with the arrival of the new machine. Now, we can meet our production demand and achieve fast turnaround of jobs. Our next expansion will be in the finishing segment. We are also planning to expand into packaging printing. I do not know when it will happen, but it will.”

Around 40 people work in 8,000 sq/ft area of the company shopfloor round the clock.
