As the photo printing market in India gains traction, more and more print firms are opting for advanced photo printing machines. “The demand for HD quality photo printing in India is increasing rapidly. There is a vast opportunity for premium photo printing in the country,” said Puneet Datta, director, professional printing products division.

The recent installation of the DreamLabo is seen at Kochi-based Colortone Photobook and Mysore-based Capital Color.

The first one was installed at GK Vale in Bengaluru. Talking about the investment, Anand Sukumar, managing partner, GK Vale said, “This is a radical shift from the standard prints that a digital press produces. This is the reason the DreamLabo is more than appropriate for our line of business."

Kochi got its first DreamLabo after the city’s premier photo lab Edathadan Digital Press installed the machine.

Bengaluru again got India’s third DreamLabo when the city’s Ard Foto installed a DreamLabo 5000.

With an investment of Rs 4.5crore, the DreamLabo fits the bill of high quality and larger quantity output, thanks to the inkjet technology, which it has successfully deployed through its PIXMA desktop printers range that runs the workhorse.

The DreamLabo 5000 features a high-density print head, enabling over 300 mm wide printing output and incorporates Canon’s FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology.

When used in combination with the automatic double-sided printing function up to 12x25 inch size, the DreamLabo 5000 is capable of printing approximately 1000 pages of A4 size content and 2300 pages of 4x6’ size content per hour.
