The order, one of the largest in Megabound’s history, includes the active plus dual, Xpress book line, head and tail machine, twin case corner rounding machine, rotary board cutter, spine cutter, top-glueing machine, V-grooving machine, wrapping and folding (box formation machine), V-groove corner cutting machine, and the 2-in-1 corner cutting machine.
Rajesh Baid, managing director, Books & Boxes, described the purchase as both an expansion and a renewal of trust. “Our relationship with Megabound began in 2012 when we invested in a casing-in machine. More than a decade later, that machine is still running smoothly. That experience gave us confidence to scale up with them again,” he said.
The decision was not taken lightly. Baid spent over a year in dialogue with the supplier, visiting Megabound’s factory during PrintPack and touring customer sites where the machines were already in operation. “I met a few of their vendors, and everyone spoke highly of the performance and support. After those visits, I was convinced this was the right step for us,” he explained.
Books & Boxes’ latest investment is aimed at both quality improvement and diversification. Baid is especially excited about the hard case line, which he sees as a growth driver. “Hard case boxes are in great demand today, particularly for sweets and gifting. In stationery too, customers increasingly prefer hard case notebooks over diaries. This technology will allow us to deliver on those expectations while modernising our overall production.”
For Baid, trust and technology go hand in hand. “We were the first company in Guwahati to install an automatic machine. Step by step, we’ve grown from notebooks into packaging. This new installation represents another leap forward — one that will help us keep pace with customer demand and maintain our reputation for quality.”
He adds that the future of bookbinding in India looks promising. “Demand is growing for notebooks and premium packaging. With Megabound by our side, we’re well positioned to meet that demand and expand further.”
