Lucknow-based Army Printing Press, founded by CM Bajaj and Gautam Bajaj, has deployed multiple Bindwel binding systems to support both high-volume book production and short-run digital jobs.

The company operates across three verticals: book printing for publishers, including law books, textbooks, and coffee table titles; short-run luxury packaging; and digital printing for customised stationery and wedding cards. Its primary market includes Lucknow and cities within a 250-km radius across Uttar Pradesh.

Army Printing Press runs two facilities. Its city unit comprises three floors of 3,000sqft each and handles digital printing and short-run work. The larger 17,000-sqft plant, located near Kanpur Road, is dedicated to high-volume book production.

The digital unit is equipped with Konica Minolta colour and monochrome presses, along with post-press systems including a Stahl folding machine, a chain feeder book sewing machine, and a Bindwel SigLoch Zen single-clamp perfect binder. The main plant uses refurbished Heidelberg presses for volume production, supported by Stahl folding systems, thread sewing machines, and a Bindwel six-clamp perfect binder. The facility also includes equipment for hardbound book production, including spine rounding and joint forming.

According to the company, its focus remains on high-volume book production, consistent quality, and turnaround time. Key customers include law and textbook publishers as well as scientific and technical research institutes.

Among its recent projects, the company highlighted a coffee table book on the Imambara featuring photographs by Lucknow-based photographer Ajaish Jaiswal, and a title on the temples of Awadh by Vipul Varshney. In addition, it produced 50,000 copies of a hardbound legal reference book within a tight delivery schedule.

Army Printing Press has installed multiple Bindwel systems, including the BW@2500, Blue Chip, and SigLoch Zen. The SigLoch Zen is primarily used for short-run and digital applications, while multi-clamp systems support higher-volume production.

Bindwel stated that Army Printing Press represents a high-volume, quality-focused operation within the Lucknow market.

Gautam Bajaj said, “SigLoch Zen is a user friendly machine with a small footprint. It is ideal for short runs of upto 200 books. It is equally capable of binding a single copy as well, without wasting any copies which is a big advantage in digital printing. Extremely Happy with the Service Support and Guidance from Bindwel Team for our Perfect Binding Jobs.”
