Apex International has officially announced the global launch of Anilox Armor, a new line of protective covers designed to shield critical anilox assets from the rigours of storage, transport, and daily handling. Scheduled for global availability starting in March 2026, this launch addresses a growing demand for pressroom reliability. This is relevant as the industry pivots toward expanded colour gamut printing, where even minor anilox damage can derail colour consistency.
Anilox sleeves are the heart of the flexographic process, yet their engraved surfaces are vulnerable to impact and chemical degradation. Damage sustained during storage or handling can compromise the engraved surface, leading to print defects and high operating costs. Anilox Armor is designed to reinforce the mission of helping customers achieve reliability and extended lifespan from their assets.
The covers are engineered to be as resilient as the sleeves they protect. They feature a precision-fit interior that absorbs shock during transport. Fibre-reinforced plastic construction ensures the covers resist abrasion and maintain structural integrity over repeated use. Additionally, the materials are specifically rated to resist common pressroom inks, solvents, and cleaning agents. The reusable design is intended to reduce the waste associated with single-use protective wraps.
Beyond physical protection, Apex has integrated a workflow solution directly into the product through colour-coded handling rings. These end rings allow operators to identify specific sleeves at a glance. This ensures seamless recognition across different shifts and reduces the likelihood of mounting errors. The Anilox Armor range is designed to fit both conventional engravings and the patented GTT technology rollers from Apex.
While stocked in standard sizes to accommodate the most common sleeve and roll diameters, Apex has confirmed that custom dimensions are available upon request to suit specialised narrow web or wide web applications. The product line will be featured at major industry trade shows throughout 2026. Interested parties can source the covers through the Apex International global headquarters or its network of regional partners.
