What does the machine do?
The Trimit 30C is a three-knife trimmer used for trimming three sides of a printed book. They can also be used for manufacturing exercise notebooks, answer books and other stationery items. The Trimit 30C trims 30 times a minute, and depending on the number of books per pile, its throughput can scale significantly.
Which are the different models?
It is available in three primary versions based on infeed mechanism:
DTC (direct to clamp): This is the base model, where books are fed directly into the clamp.
IFT (infeed table): Here, books are positioned away from the clamp and fed via a table — ideal for offline operations.
IL (inline): It is a fully integrated version that connects to perfect binders via conveyers for continuous production.
A specialised variant, Trimit 30C SRT, is built for short-run and variable jobs. It features intelligent automation — measuring book thickness, auto-adjusting the ram movement, and aligning the knives based on input size or QR code, enabling real-time, job-to-job flexibility.
Is there anything in the machine which is available as a standalone?
Yes. The Trimit 30C DTC and IFT models are standalone or offline models. Bindwel confirms the option of upgrading these to an inline model, whenever the customer need arises.
When was it launched?
The Trimit 30C in its current avatar was launched in FY 2019.
What was the thought process when the equipment was conceived?
Bindwel leveraged over 30 years of expertise in bookbinding to develop the Trimit 30C. The goal was to offer a dedicated solution that addresses the limitations of guillotines — especially in scalability and consistency.
Guillotines serve as multi-purpose cutters, but they fall short when it comes to high-volume, size-consistent book trimming. Trimit 30C bridges that gap with precise, automated trimming and the ability to scale from offline to inline operations. The concept evolved from earlier models like Trident and matured alongside the development of Bindline, Bindwel’s full inline system.
Where is it manufactured?
The Trimit series of three knife trimmers are manufactured by Bindwel at its factory in Bengaluru.
How does it compare to the used/ preowned European models?
The Trimit 30C surpasses preowned models like SDY2 on every critical front.
Safety: It meets modern global safety standards, unlike older trimmers that are now non-compliant in their home markets.
Build quality: It is made with monoblock casting for rigidity and low vibration, ideal even for upper-floor installations.
Mechanism: The mechanical clamping with servo options eliminates the maintenance hassles of hydraulic systems.
Precision: Features like the spine support knife ensure clean, chip-free trims, especially important for perfect-bound books.
Productivity: Delivers up to 50% higher output than older European models.
Scalability: Modular design allows for future upgrades, something old trimmers can’t offer.
What about Chinese-made models?
Most Chinese machines are basic replicas of outdated European models. While they may seem cost-effective upfront, they often lack consistency, local support, and long-term upgrade potential. The Trimit 30C stands apart with advanced features, precision engineering, lower wastage per book, local support and parts availability, and scalable architecture for future expansion.
What is the target market(s)?
We have sold Trimit 30Cs to book printers, security booklet printers, short-run digital printers and so on. In addition to India, we also have these machines working in Indonesia, Nepal, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Maghreb countries.
What kind of books / publications can it handle?
It can handle both perfect-bound books and thread-sewn book blocks. It can also be used for making pocket books. We have customers who use the machine for trimming the three sides of examination answer booklets.
How fast (adaptable) is it?
The machine can be installed in a day, and the training given includes understanding the safety features and also encountering and resolving trimming problems.
What is the USP of the equipment?
The Trimit 30C’s biggest USP is its scalability — start with an offline model and grow into an inline setup. It’s the fastest machine in its investment category, built to evolve with your business needs.
How easy is it to use for the operator on the shopfloor?
Based on different models, the operator will need focused training to get the best out of the machine. This has more to do with the types of books and the job requirements in terms of productivity and quality.
What training and support does Bindwel offer?
Prior to dispatch from the factory, a set of different types of books made by the customer are trimmed and tested on the machine.
Bindwel provides comprehensive training, covering machine safety, common trimming challenges and solutions, workflow-based problem identification, format and job changeover procedures. Our after-sales team ensures continuous support throughout the equipment’s life.
How much is the investment?
Three-knife trimmers are an integral part of any book factory. Generally, one trimmer can take care of production of two BW@2500 perfect-binders. Reliability, safety, and prompt aftersales support help in recovering the investment quickly. Thanks to these, the cost per book, when trimmed using Trimit 30C is lowest in its class.
Users’ numbers in India / worldwide?
We have crossed the one hundred number, already. And hope to have 100% growth over last year sales in FY 25-26.
