What does the machine do?

The Nilpeter FB-Line (FB-14, FB-17 and FB-19) is an automated flexographic press engineered for modern label and flexible-packaging production. It delivers fast set-ups, accurate register, and multi-substrate capability, enabling converters to run short to medium runs with high quality and low waste.

Which are the different models?

The FB-Line is offered in 14-inch (FB-14), 17-inch (FB-17) and 19-inch (FB-19) web widths and the 22-inch (FB-22) expected soon. These model numbers correspond to the maximum printing widths and intended market segments (narrow- to mid-web).

How do these models differ from each other?

Web/printing width: The FB-14 targets up to 14-inch printing width (≈355 mm) while the FB-17 supports a wider web for larger labels/flexible packaging.

Substrate handling and format flexibility: The larger FB-17 was developed specifically to bridge label and some flexible-packaging needs — allowing thinner films and broader applications.

Configuration options: Both models share the same modern platform (PowerLink control, dual-servo print head, automation options) but tooling and optional units (die-cut, rotary screen, etc) vary according to customer specs.

Is there anything in the machine which is available as a standalone?

Yes. The FB-Line is built on a modular concept: Nilpeter offers a range of add-on units (rotary die-cutters, varnish/UV units, pre-register systems, ink chamber systems, single-die units) that can be configured per job requirement. Many ancillary units like the very popular Nilpeter Gravure unit, Solvent Flexo units, Crossover unit for multi-layer labels etc. are compatible across Nilpeter platforms and can be specified individually during order/configuration.

When was the equipment launched?

The current, updated FB-Line (the new FB-14/FB-17 generation) was announced in mid-2024 and started commercial demonstrations and sales thereafter. Nilpeter formally promoted the new FB-Line from August 2024 onward, with industry show presence through 2024–25.

What was the thought process when the equipment was conceived?

Nilpeter positioned the new FB-Line between the classic Singe Servo FB (350/430)-workhorse and the high-end FA-Line. The goal was to deliver FA-level automation and control at an investment level accessible to more converters. Key design drivers were improved automation (PowerLink), fast setup, dual-servo accuracy for thin-film handling, and flexibility for both labels and short-run flexible packaging.

What is the target market(s)?

The target markets include:

Label converters (narrow-web) seeking better automation and register control.

Converters wanting to expand into short-run flexible packaging/film without investing in the highest-end FA series.

Printers who need a mid-range, automated press with strong pre-register, auto-register and dual-servo control for Vari-print capability needed for thinner filmic materials.

What kind of substrates can it handle?

Designed as a multi-substrate press, the machine can handle substrates from coated and uncoated papers to films (BOPP, PET, PE), unsupported film, and laminates. The FB series can handle substrates from very thin films (~15 µm) up to heavier boards depending on configuration.

How fast is it?

Nominal press speeds quoted for the FB family cover typical flexo label ranges — up to ~175-m/min (6–175-m/min) on some FB configurations. The actual top speed depends on press configuration, unwind/rewind, and substrate.

What are the USP of the equipment?

Dual-servo print head delivering 360 degrees automatic register and high precision.

PowerLink control platform for automation, job recall, and remote support.

True pre-register system for quick, reliable setup.

Modern mechanical design allows multi-substrate capability and lower waste.

Positioned as high automation at a mid-range investment, bridging FB and FA lines.

How easy is it to use?

Nilpeter designed the FB-Line for operator-friendly workflows: touchscreen controls, automated register and pre-register, stored job recipes, and job recalls reduce changeover time and operator dependency. The platform is intended to be intuitive for trained operators.

What training and support are on offer?

Nilpeter provides operator and maintenance training through local Nilpeter technology centres and dealer networks. The PowerLink platform also enables remote diagnostics and software updates, enabling ongoing technical support and faster troubleshooting.

How much does it cost?

Nilpeter does not publish standard list prices online because cost varies with configuration, optional units, automation level, and local taxes/import duties. For accurate pricing, request a quote from Nilpeter or your authorised local dealer. They will propose configurations matched to your substrate mix and throughput targets.

Users’ numbers worldwide?

Nilpeter reported strong market interest and pre-orders following the FB-Line launch; several presses have been installed worldwide since the introduction.
