VeePee’s managing director Jai Chandra, speaking to PrintWeek India, after signing the deal at Labelexpo Europe, said that the 5080 will be installed at the company’s third location coming up in Pune.

“It’s going to be a complete new 50x80 line with focus on wide-web as well as corrugation,” said Jai Chandra.

At present, VeePee services the likes of Parakh Agro and Manikchand. Jai Chandra added, “From our Pune location, we will be servicing the Mumbai and Gujarat markets too."

VeePee will be adopted the ‘spoke and wheel’ concept with the pre-press being handled from Bengaluru with the plates fired in Pune. “We will be using our existing software platform to perform the tasks.”

Explaining his decision to opt for the 5080 over the CDI Spark, Jai Chandra said, “It’s certainly an expensive buy, but I had a choice of either going for the older technology or look ahead. I decided to look ahead,” he said. “The Crystal’s screening is quite different from the Spark, so there an improvement in quality, it’s much faster. Moreover, I can integrate this on the online exposure, the XPS HD Flexo, so it’s going to be a seamless operation.”

VeePee’s Pune plant will be operated from a 5,000 sq/ft site in an industrial park. “It’s going to be a state-of-the-art operation,” said Jai Chandra, adding, that his next stop will be Kolkata, sometime in 2018.
