KG Sharma, director, Miraj Multicolour, said, “We recently added a seven-colour Heidelberg printing press to meet our print production demand. We needed a strong setup in finishing to keep up with production from our Heidelberg. We believe post-press should always be a notch higher in capacity so that we avoid any WIP from print or we are forced to reduce the printing machines speed which is more expensive proposition.”
The Bobst New Novacut 106 E 3.0 version has some great new features and automation than its predecessor, which can enhance production, reduce changeover times and machines stoppages. The Bobst Ambition 106 A2 has been installed along with a collection table and corrugation attachment to fold and glue corrugated boxes as well.
The company’s partnership with Bobst started in 2013, when it was still relatively new in packaging printing and its post-press was not strong. Sharma said the Bobst team played a major role in selection of products according to its needs. “Sturdy and robust machine, maintenance and after-sale services are the key points to continue the journey with post-press specialists,” he added. “After all, it is the best investment of your money even in such tough times.”
He said the company has invested more than Rs 25-crore in the calendar year. The investments include a seven-colour plus coater Heidelberg printing press, folder-gluer and die-cutter from Bobst, stripping machines from Zhongke India and Suba Solutions and flute laminator and corrugator from Zhongke India.
Miraj converts around 2,000 tonnes of paper, board and kraft per month with a team of more than 400 people in 24x7x365-operation. Sharma said the company is growing at a CAGR of 20%.
He noted that under the leadership and vision of the group chairman Madan Paliwal, the company is on a growth track. “The second generation of the family owned business, vice-chairman Mantra Raj Paliwal expedited our decision-making process and we could finalise the machines quickly,” he added.
Today, Miraj serves as a printing house with printing and packaging solutions from pre-press to post-press, with the production capacity of 20 to 25-million cartons per month and exercise book capacity of 3.50-lakh per day.
