SMI introduces block out labelstock

By 10 Jan 2020

SMI Coated Products has introduced a block out labelstock to cope up with the continuous changes in government regulation regarding the text or language used on packaging. The solution ensures that the pre-printed packaging material is not discarded or re-processed.

Rajesh Khatwani, sales director, SMI, said, “Our high opacity block out labels ensure that the text behind the label is hidden and secure. This product can be used in various applications and its fit for FMCG, food and chemical industries as the information on their product changes from time to time. And it also comes with barcode transparency on dark surfaces.”

This block out labels can be applied at room temperature and its service temperature ranges from -20 to 100°C. “SMI has seen a great increase in demand of such block out labelstock solution,” added Khatwani.

In addition to the new launch, the Indian labelstock major has installed a non-contact  online scanner from NDC, USA. “Our commitment to the industry is reflected in our continuous investments. Thus, ensuring an improved and consistent quality, while we expand our production capabilities to take care of the industry growth,” said a company press note shared with PrintWeek.

The scanner helps to monitor adhesive coat weight and moisture levels of the web during adhesive coating. The system ensures consistent coat weights, and  thereby enhancing SMI’s ability to provide high quality labelstocks.
