With newer ranges of paper for digital printers being introduced in the market, there is more scope for printers to come up with innovative photo albums and covers.

Noel D’Cunha, managing editor, PrintWeek India, said, “The jobs that we have seen in this category over the past decade were breathtaking. To click the right photograph is one thing, but to print it in accordance with the customer demand, to give a unique feel to the album with an aesthetically appealing cover is a different game altogether.”

The PrintWeek India Jury will be seeking out the company that best demonstrates a combination of good quality colour results, substrates used, and fabrication of the album including innovative cover.

“When it comes to photo albums, various factors come into consideration such as the right choice of substrate and the strength and finish of binding. The albums comprise of a lay-flat or flush mount page, to ensure the printed image isn’t affected by the centre spread and binding line,” added D’Cunha.

Bengaluru-based GK Vale and Co, one of the largest photo lab players in South India, won the Award during the 10th edition of the PrintWeek India Awards held in Mumbai.

The shortlisted companies in this category were Colortone Process, Shree Printwell Offset, and Sri Sivarama Digital Press.
