Pune’s Star Copier invests in Versant 3100

Pune-based Star Copier recently invested in a Xerox Versant 3100, plus a Xerox Nuvera 314. “Our association with Xerox goes back to the time when our father started the company with a Xerox 225 jumbo machine. What adds value to this association is the impeccable support the company offers on its after-sales services compared to other brands in the market,” Viral Gada, co-owner of Star Copier, said.

“This is the reason why we sold a small production engine we owned and bought the Versant, which offers better services than any of its competitors in the market,” he added.

The 30-year-old company, with a turnover of Rs 12 to 15-crores was started by Khinji Gada with a Xerox 225 machine. Now run by the brothers Dinesh and Viral Gada, Star Copier’s key business areas are digital printing, print on demand, finishing and flex, and services corporate clients and suppliers.

On the recent investment, Gada said, “As a company, we have always invested in the latest cutting-edge technologies and offer best in class product/service to our clients.”

He added that after the installation of the Xerox machinery, the company has witnessed a significant reduction in downtime and increase in productivity, leading to a positive impact on the business and customer satisfaction.

We have seen a great return on investment with Xerox products. It took us just two years to get the returns on the investment of the Nuvera,” he said.

Gada said the investment will help the company’s overall efficiency and increase its ability to cater to more customers. “We are witnessing a surge in the demand of special and textured paper, and now we have the best of technologies to cater to such a demand,” he added.

Star Copier’s facility, spread over 6,000-sqft area, houses four Xerox Nuvera single-colour, one Konica Minolta single-colour, and two four-colour kits from Xerox. The company employs 30 people on the shopfloor. “To keep them abreast with the latest technology, we take them through regular trainings and technology sessions on how to make best use of the technology to get the maximum output,” Gada said.

He said there is a shift at hand with more people giving preference to digital printing as compared to offset. “The reason for the shift is digital’s ability to do short-runs. The best solution is to stay updated and keep innovating and incorporate newer technologies in your business,” he said.
