According to Srushti, this is the first such installation of the system in the region after Kolkata. The curing system installed at the company has a width of 350 mm and it enables the printing on substrates ranging from 12 microns to 450 microns. The curing system functions at a maximum speed of 70-80 metre per minute.

Jagdip D Ghorpade, director at The Printer, said, “I am very happy with the performance of the LED unit. It’s environment-friendly and the system can save money, which is a first-of-its-kind in the region.”

The company opted for the LED system because of its cost efficiency, sustainability, production efficiency, and reduced job change over time, among other features, said Ghorpade.

During the installation of curing systems, Uflex India had supplied the printing inks for trials.

Sanjay Desousa, general manager at Srushti Enterprise said, “Srushti UV LED curing systems is ideal for both narrow-web and wide-web printing for the packaging industry. It can print on a variety of substrates and packaging materials at high speeds. The intense print output, low heat generation, and less energy usage, make Srushti UV LED curing system a state-of-the-art assembly.”

He said it enables the printers and converters to further save costs by decreasing material waste and operating costs while providing customers with quality printing products.

Srushti Enterprise was founded by Sanjay Merchant, a mechanical and plastic technologist, in 1994. The Mumbai-based company believes the use of Srushti UV LED curing systems in the label industry would not only increase productivity, but also improve workplace safety and minimise environmental impacts, in comparison to existing alternative UV curing methods.

According to Desousa, the UV LED curing systems provide a trouble-free press operation with no warm-up time and less downtime. “The technology also offers higher consistent yields as compared to traditional UV curing systems; there are no reflectors to clean or shutters to replace. With absolutely no moving parts, the maintenance is as to nothing, the best feature as compared to the traditional UV systems.”
