Macro Media eases its soft-signage operations with Zund cutting table

Hyderabad-based Macro Media Media Digital Imaging has recently invested in a Zund G3 3XL 3200. It has opted for the largest working area of 3210 mm x 3200 mm, using laser module for the cutting operation.

Naresh Kumar Dasari, director, Macromedia Digital Imaging, said, “We invested in G3 3XL 3200 primarily for finishing process of soft signage. As the Zund uses laser for cutting operation, we could avoid frays on the fabric edges.”

Prasanna Venkatesh, managing director of Zund India, said, “The process of cutting with a laser effectively seals the edges, eliminating the fraying of fabric edges. Compared to manual cutting with a hot knife or ultrasonic tool, digital laser cutting excels in both cut quality and precision.”

Macro Media will be using the Zund for soft signage printing consisting of graphics on fabrics and also are in plans of using it for self-adhesive vinyl substrates.

“Laser module to cut fabric or textile, overhead camera and conveyorised fabric handling were the significant features of Zund cutting table,” said Dasari.

According to Dasari, Macro Media was looking for a digital cutting table with a laser module and there are very few companies offering it other than Zund. Also, it is present in India from over five years and has a reliable reputation on service and support.

“The laser module of the cutting table can be converted into a routing cutting table in a minimum time of 10 minutes and can be used for normal applications such as sunboard, corrugated cardboard, foam board, sandwich panel, PP, PVC, and MDF. This unique feature was a decisive factor for Macro Media in opting for Zund,” stressed Venkatesh.

Dasari added, “Zund offered complete training on how to operate the equipment and various steps involved in preventive maintenance.” 

Along with Zund, Macro Media have recently invested in a 3.2 metre wide Reggiani Next dye-sublimation printer and a 3.2mtr wide Montiantonio heat transfer press.

Dasari aims to achieve the break-even for the machine in the next 3-4 years and concluded by stating, “In the last 18 months, we have invested more than Rs 15-cr on various equipment and over the next couple of years we would like to focus on using those equipment at their full potential.”

Started in 2000, Macro Media is into wide-format graphics business, primarily catering to OOH industry’s print requirements. It has employee strength of 400+ with eight production centres located across Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi and Vizag.
