Labelexpo 2022: Unicorn Flexo Graphics buys Esko’s large size imager

According to the company, with Unicorn looking to grow and expand into new territories like flexible packaging, labels and corrugated, this investment in the imager is a good step forward. “We found the Esko imager to be a good option, as we are looking to expand our business. As we got the best deal, we decided to go ahead and book the imager,” said Namit Shah, partner, Unicorn Flexo Graphics.

The company has been in the business of platemaking for the last 20 years, and had recently moved into the digital flexo printing space. “As Unicorn was looking to expand its portfolio, we stepped in and started talking. Seeing the success of Esko’s imagers, its reliability and its longevity, the company was convinced to invest in our large size imager, CDI Spark 5080,” shared Arnab Maiti of Esko.   

Maiti said the flexo printing industry is growing significantly, in particular the flexible packaging and labels sector. “It is an interesting time for print technology as companies are now expanding. The timing of the buy from Unicorn Flexo Graphics couldn’t have been better,” he added. 

The CDI Spark 5080 is the largest format that Esko has in the CDI Spark series. The CDI Spark 5080 has a maximum plate size of 50x80-inches and comes with a range of optics. The CDI Spark family can accommodate all plate sizes and a converter can choose any brand of digital plate and processing method.
