GBO's Jumpstart to host GST roundtable on 4 August

Understanding GST is no child’s play; far from it. At the same time, since its implementation on 1 July, the confusion over the new tax regime has pervaded all sections. Thus, rising to the occasion, the ninth edition of Jumpstart, the annual conference of children’s content, organised by German Book Office, New Delhi, will host a special roundtable on GST on the first day of the two-day event on 4 August 2016.

“In view of the current GST regime, publishers and printers have many questions about the taxation purview. With so many differing views on the taxation and lack of proper clarifications from government, we are bound to end up with some problems during returns. What’s to be seen is whether the tax officials will be lenient for the next few months or penalise businesses for a mistake,” said Prashasti Rastogi, director, German Book Office, New Delhi.

Titled ‘Decoding GST’, the event will be an open roundtable especially designed for clarifications on the matter of GST. The roundtable will be moderated by international publishing consultant Jaya Bhattacharji Rose and will have two experts — Sanjay Garg, partner, Indirect Tax, KPMG India and Sujit Ghosh, partner, Advaita Legal — answering the questions.

The main agenda for the roundtable will be ‘GST dos and don’ts’ for book publishing and printing. Thus, the ideal participant would include printers; publishers; authors; and publishing professionals.

Entry to the event is by invitation only. Interested delegates can call on 01149120951 for details.
