Delhi’s Balaji Digital opts for Ricoh 9100

New Delhi-based Balaji Digital has opted for a Ricoh Pro C9100 digital cutsheet printing press equipped with Fiery E-43 digital front end (DFE). The press is running at the company’s shopfloor since January 2017 and the digital printing company has already printed more than five lakh A3 sheets on the machine.

B Shyam Babu, proprietor, Balaji Digital, said, “We have opted for the Ricoh because of two main reasons – speed and the ability to print heavy substrates. The machine can print 110 A4 pages per minute and it can handle paper up to 400 gsm. We did not find any machine in the market with such capability.”

The machine can print sheet size of 13x27-inches, and Shyam Babu said the warm up time of the machine is less than seven minutes while the weight is less than 1,000 kg.

Besides the new Ricoh, Balaji Digital is equipped with Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C1085, which was installed in 2015 and Ricoh 9100. Both the printing engines produce more than two lakh A3 prints per month.

“Our entire production is job work. We produce whatever jobs come to us, including business cards, leaflets, brochures and other marketing materials,” said Shyam Babu.

Shyam Babu, who has more than two decades of experience in the industry, moved to Delhi from Andhra Pradesh in 1991 and worked for prestigious printing companies like International Print-O-Pack and Mehta Offset before starting on his own.

Around 10 people work in Balaji Digital’s 1,000 sq/ft facility.
