The company claims that it is the world’s first bean-to-bar chocolate manufacturing brand.

The chocolate bars come in 10 different flavours such as Sukku Coffee, Masala Chai, Lavander, Banana, Pink Rose, Red Rose, Lemongrass, Banana, Coconut Milk and Cinnamon, and Irish coffee.

L Nitin Chordia, founder, Cocoatrait, said, “We have reduced every possible millimetre of the packaging used, helping us optimise our transport volume and making it more sustainable, reducing carbon footprint and occupying lesser shelf space at retail stores.”

The chocolate bars are packed using upcycled cocoa husk paper, which is plastic- and paper-free, recyclable, biodegradable and compostable.

The wrapper design has been printed at V-Excel Educational Trust. “We print the Recommended Daily Dietery Allowances (RDA) clearly on the front of the pack, allowing us to be transparent and consumer-centric,” said Chordia.

The inner side of the packaging has Mandala art templates, greetings, emergency contacts, and a habit tracker, amongst other features. Barcodes and QR codes have also been integrated into the package to provide relevant information and reduce the packaging space.

“This product has been manufactured with an aim of keeping the environment and process sustainability as a priority and also promote flavour delivery through the use of minimal and natural ingredients, “he added.

The cocoa beans used for the manufacturing of the chocolate bars are majorly procured from Kerala. The company has opted for the traditional non-refined organic Khandsari (moscovado) sugar instead of artificial sweeteners and it has also eradicated the usage of flavour oils.

Cocoatrait does not offer white and milk chocolates as they believe that reduced sugar and high cocoa ensures a healthier chocolate experience.
