Going by the latest report, India is increasingly taking to the global stage. Of the 3,000 odd exhibitors at the show, as many as 103 companies are from India, which stands 8th in the list of more than 60 participating countries. Interestingly, the number of Indian exhibitors is up by 47% from the 2014 edition of the show. This is because many first-timers like Welbound (Impel) and Unick Fix-a-Form will line up their ‘Made-in-India’ innovations for the world to see.

The In the first week of May, thousands of Indians will fly to Germany. Trawling Messe Dusseldorf’s halls, they will attempt to seek innovations that can eliminate their packaging and distribution challenges and positively impact their businesses. It’s also an opportunity to weigh India’s packaging on the global stage on the index of package engineering and process innovation.

Innovation Park
As before, Save Food will play a role at Interpack 2017. A special show called Innovation Park (innovationparc) will be held, with packaging ideas and solutions designed to reduce food waste. This includes the winners of the international competitions for the Save Food Packaging Awards, held by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). The prizes were awarded prior to Interpack, and the winners are now set to compete with one other for the WorldStar Awards at the trade fair. The innovationparc will include a presentation forum which can be used by companies to showcase their ideas and solutions.

Representing PrintWeek India and WhatPackaging?, technical editor Rushikesh Aravkar will be reporting from Messe Dusseldorf on all days of the show. He can be reached at +49 1734956115
