What does the machine do?
The machine automatically feeds the sheets from the pile with counting, and folds it in single or double parallel fold as required. After which it delivers a ready folded block.

Did you look at any other similar machines?
Yes, we looked for the other machines as well.

Why did you make the purchase?
Line O Matic (LOM) is a renowned Indian manufacturer and provides quality machines. The company is in the market with a fully automatic exercise book machine as well as a cut size sheeter with advance technology.

What features do you particularly like?
The machine is designed specially for folding ruled sheet for exercise notebooks; it is a heavy-duty machine with a robust structure. The operations are very simple and have stability with accuracy in folding.

Is there anything that you dislike?
Nothing, but there is always a scope of improvement.

How was fast is it?
The speed of this machine is 180 to 200 sheets per minute. We are folding the sheets at the speed of 7,500 sheets per hour.

What’s the quality like?
It provides a good quality fold and can handle paper from 50 gsm onwards

Is there anything that you wish it had that it doesn’t?
It has the capacity of two to 12 sheets for double-fold and two to 18 sheets for single-fold, but I think there should be an option of folding maximum 15 sheets.

How reliable is it?
Very reliable.

How easy is it to use?
With full automation, it’s easy to set up and operate. It doesn’t need a trained operator.

How much time or money has it saved?
It is a heavy duty work-horse and saves a lot of manpower.

Has it won you any new work?
Not directly. In our type of operation, we already have the work. Our loading is already showing 85% utilisation on this machine. We are currently working double-day shifts and will probably move to 24-hour operation. One can always compete against the competitors if you have an automatic notebook folding machine.

Would you say that it offers value for money?
Yes it is. It is a competitively priced machine for the features and speed it offers.

Where there any difficulties experienced during the installation or after?
The planned installation date was tightly monitored. LOM worked late into the evening to get the folder up and running, in order to meet our schedule.  

What about the pre and after-sale service?
We have been pleased with the service, training and support that LOM has provided us. The company has a good service network and they provide good after-sales service.

Who do you think the machine is right for?
This machine is right for notebook manufacturers who have a requirement for high-volume and high-speed. It is useful for printers that need a quick set up and job change and are keen to maintain accuracy in folding.

Under what circumstances would you buy another?
We have already bought a second machine. In fact, in the next year, our third machine will be installed.

Vijayshri is mainly into manufacturing of notebooks for exports and the norms for the exports are to be strictly followed. This is where our machine comes into the picture. The ruling and folding machine has maximum possible accuracy thereby reducing the waste. Vijayshri is already showing 85% utilisation on Line O Matic ruling and folding machine. They are planning to install one more ruling as well folding machine from Line O Matic."
