Macart Equipment, which uses Xaar printhead for its digital print devices said that Xaar printheads are good and user friendly and are ideally priced for India. Atul Gandhi, managing director at Macart, said, “We are using Xaar print heads since more than 13 years and our engineers and customers are very comfortable in using them.” Macart also uses Konica printheads for wide-format application but customer segments and applications vary.

Gandhi said that Xaar has over 80% share in the digital tile decoration market in India and Xaar works closely with his company on future product developments. “Macart’s business, like Xaar’s is looking to digital print application beyond signage.”

Bobertz gave an update on the new 501 and the 1002 heads. The 501 heads are for wide-format application with a version for solvent inks, while the 1002 head jets vicious and abrasive ink in advanced industrial manufacturing space like touch screen and 3D printing. “The 1002 is Xaar’s TF Technology. When used in the 1002 gives it a unique advantage when printing with various fluids with high particle content. It also allows for printing with stability in non-standard print positions like in what’s called skyscraper mode. This is of particular use in the packaging and direct-to-shape printing applications as well as a variety of industrial print applications.”

The 501 is a unique PH with circulating ink and gray scale capability. It very high speed with drop size of 10pl. “We are planning to use this PH in wide format and some industrial application,” said Gandhi of Macart.

Xaar has an office in India for nearly 10 years now. It is perhaps the only printhead company with direct representation and support. “This shows a level of commitment to India not seen by others,” said Bobertz.
