Three on three. Winning for the third time, New Delhi’s Avantika seems to have made the Digital Printer of the Year Award its own, ever since making its debut three Awards ago.

As in the two previous editions, Avantika’s entries this time too caught the eyes of the judges for its use of substrate; for giving the design, executed on Cordenons, Conqueror and Galgo papers, an elegant balance between art (photographic work in one of the entries) and product, which showcases the work.

Match Box produced for customer Mukul Raut, has two parts, one is postcards and other is packaging the postcards into a box. The cards and paper passed on the box were printed on a Canon Imagepress C7010VP colour digital production press, and the press’ capability to emboss was used to give the effect on the side of the box, which was punctuated with screen print and UV lamination process to highlight some part of the work. According to Avantika, they had to work hard on process control for colour consistency, as the company had to match the photographic prints, some of it on silver shiny paper. Avantika produced 100 pieces of the product.

Ace, a hardbound book for Rabbithole, according to Avantika, truly reflects the power and elegance of the tennis star, Maria Sharapova; while the Anantas Brochure for 4 Design, a book, “which has subtle symphony and creativity” has been produced with “flawless print impression that inspires any soul”; The Best of India, a hard bound brochure with a box, for India Brand Equity Foundation, according to Avantika, is “simply the best presentation which depicts the choices of Indian products”.

According to the judges, the entries, which were so impressive, illustrate a clear process, experimentation, strategy and hard work, which yields results, and top honour for the company.

The 24-year old company, has a print production floor dominated by Canon digital press, besides a Konica Minolta C6000, a mono Xerox digital printer for single-colour work, a screen printing facility and a complete facility for post-press and pre-press, which produces an array of ingenious print jobs.

MN Pandey, the pivot around whom the company’s operations revolve, has been a teacher of Mathematics in Ayodhya. His maxims like “digital is the grandson of print – and it is definitely the future” or the four things which he believes can create a great job, “men, machine, implementation of the latest technologies, and above all the vision of the head of the organisation”, portrays the man’s mission and is a perfect fit for his company. According to Pandey, Avantika is doing an excellent job of creating sparkling products for its clients.
