Amar Chhajed, managing director of Webtech Labels, said, “The idea of going for the high-end Gidue presses was to produce high quality labels for the cosmetics and consumer goods. With the introduction of M3 and M5 presses, we are achieving higher results in productivity and set-up operations. It allows us to print with reduced wastes, at speeds we could not achieve before. Print and register quality have also increased and we can match the HD Flexo standards.”

The Combat M3 is a full servo press, that has been bought with a configuration of 370mm width, eight-colours with driven chilled roll. It can handle self-adhesive labels, 15 µm unsupported PET, 20 µm BOPP, 38 µm BOPP for mineral water, all shrinkable sleeves, and up to 350 gsm carton.

The M5 Digital Flexo 3.0 press is equipped with 10 UV flexo print units and the advanced HD camera technology (Print Tutor) on each print unit. This technology checks the colour consistency of each printed label and self-adjusts print pressure, density and print register marks.

According to Chhajed, the collaboration with Gidue started in 2008, when they first decided to invest on two entry level machines and after this every year the label printing firm has added Gidue Combat presses to print eight- and 10-colors labels, making a total of five presses in four years.

Chhajed said, “After getting the experience of the first Gidue press, we were confident about the Gidue’s technology and since then we have been constantly investing in the Gidue presses.”

Meanwhile, Webtech Labels is in the final stage of procuring a HD Flexo certification from Esko.

Webtech is in the news because of its merger with the Finland-based Huhtamaki Oyj's subsidiary - Paper Products-Huhtamaki (PPL Huhtamaki). PPL Huhtamaki offers a wide portfolio of packaging solutions that include flexible packaging, labelling technologies and specialised cartons.
