More than one third of these installations are crash lock bottom carton folding-gluing machine, which have been designed for smooth running of cartons at high speed, to minimise wastage and for easy makeready, which are operator friendly with longer durability.

The company started as Vijaya Packaging Machinery in Bengaluru in 2001. Later, it shifted base to Mayapuri in Delhi purportedly to offer better after-sales services, since a majority of its customers were located in north India.

The company manufactures and supplies carton folder-gluer for crash lock bottom cartons, mini carton folding-gluing machine, varnish coating machine, cache-cover folding gluing machine, and window-patcher with in-liner attachment.

The company shopfloor at Mayapuri houses the manufacturing unit fortified with machining, drilling and cutting machines. It has a workforce of 22 people, out of which 18 are technical staff who work in the manufacturing department. Four engineers look after the sales department. The company caters to the need of all kind of offset printers who are into manufacturing mono cartons and corrugation boxes.

According to Prashanth Kumar, owner of Vijay Grafiks, the USP of the company is that it offers value for money to its customers in an especially price-conscious market like India. “The carton folder-gluer and window patcher we make are a boon to the local customers who run after price tags. Compared to imported machines, the prices of our products are 60-80% less,” says Kumar.

With continuous upgradation of its machine design, quality and after-sales support for its customers, Kumar says, the company is ahead of the competition among Indian manufacturers. “By manufacturing world class window-patcher with liner carton attachment, we are one step ahead among Indian manufacturers,” he adds.

With the increase in production of liner carton machines, the company is planning to expand its sales and marketing team. Stating that in the folder-gluer machine segment, the company is getting around 50% repeat orders, Kumar confirms that it has received two orders of liner carton machines, the installation of which is going to take place soon. One of the machines will be installed in Gujarat.

Vijaya-Veenine, the end-of-the-line crash lock bottom carton folding-gluing machine has been designed for smooth running of carton at high speed and to minimise wastage and easy makeready. For folding all lock flaps, the machine has been designed in three-track system, so that the cartons remain under pressure of two tracks at the time of folding of lock flap. This prevents shifting of alignment of cartons, saves wastages and increases speed. Special attachments can be added according to customers’ requirement.

The Vijaya cache-cover folding-gluing machine is specially designed to produce cache covers, which are mainly used by pharma packaging companies to manufacture packs for a particular dose of medicine or for physician samples. The machine’s application includes manufacturing of CD/DVD covers made of paper/board ranging from 140gsm to 350gsm.

The Vijaya coater is varnish coating machine for coating of board of 180gsm onwards. Full coating of water-based as well as UV varnishes can be coated. Manual feeder of the machine is user-friendly and no skilled labour is required as varnish thickness can be adjusted with pressure adjustment between two rollers.

According to Kumar, the Vijaya window-patcher with liner carton attachment is the first offline machine for liner cartons made in India. Window-patching machine with liner carton attachment is used to pack powders like masala, pulses, corn flakes, health supplements, ghee and oil, to make them moisture- and leak-proof.
