Tim Mercy is Goss’ new MD

Goss International’s vice president of sales in Asia, Tim Mercy, has been promoted to newly created position of managing director, Asia Pacific.

Mercy, who has represented Goss in Asia for the past 20 years,  will now lead the unified Goss sales, service and support organisation serving commercial, packaging and newspaper operations throughout the region, except China.

Vinayak Munipalli, general manager for sales and technical, SLKCG, the company which represents Goss in India, said, “Working from Singapore, Asia Pacific market has been the focus of Tim Mercy for many years now. Under his leadership, Goss has made big inroads into the commercial web offset printing segments in China, Japan, Korea, Malayasia and India, of course.”

Munipalli added, “Goss’s top of the line press model M600 became a favourite machine among commercial printers, including sheetfed printers, who wished to get into web operations.”

During Ipex 2014, Goss showcased key advances in the development of its Sunday Vpack packaging press technology, targeted at flexible packaging, label and folding carton applications. It also announced the opening of a new Packaging Technology Centre at its headquarters in Durham, New Hampshire in USA, expanding its schedule of Vpakpress demonstration, testing and training sessions for customers and prospects in the Americas, Europe and Asia. 

The  Vpak press system in operation at the Goss Packaging Technology Center has seven web offset units as well as EB and UV curing and flexo coating capabilities. The system prints on film substrates from 9 to 75 microns thick and board substrates as thick as 100 gsm. Web widths of up to 850 mm (33.5 inches) can be accommodated, and the repeat range is from 406 – 812 mm (16 – 32 inches).
