Tegra is now the first certified colour management professional in India by IDEAlliance. The colour management professional certification program is designed for creative, photography, pre-press, pre-media and print professionals interested in gaining knowledge of the principles of colour management in a graphic communication production environment and wish to be recognised for their colour management expertise.

“The US has the GRACOL specification and the Europeans have the FOGRA specification. Americans stress on grey balance and the Europeans stress more on tonal value increase that is dot gain. There is a crossfire between the Americans and the Europeans on ways to achieve ISO standard. We can use the best of both worlds and is one of the primary reason we have strived to achieve this certification,” explains Oscar Priyanand, general manager - operations and technology, Tegra Digital.

G7 process control and performance program, a process for certification, is designed to drive process control through the entire print production workflow. The course is divided into four modules – fundamentals, pre-media, print and photography. One needs to achieve atleast 80% scoring to pass the four tests.

Priyanand says, ”We offer high gamut prints to professional photographers via inkjet and also print the same images on their catalogues via offset. In such a scenario the G7 method with its stress on grey balance we can match the colours across the spectrum within the gamut limitations of any specific print technology.”

“The G7 method has many advantages for a digital and offset printer like Tegra Digital. It helps to live upto our byline “Anything Print!” perfectly,” concluded Priyanand.
