“The award is founded on Technotrans’ hunger for implementing eco-friendly practices in the offset printing industry,” said, Sunil Matthew, general manager at Technotrans India.  He further added, “With many Indian customers realising the importance of such green technologies, the Green Printer award holds a special position in the industry to inspire and lead the industry to a greener world.”

The winner is entitled for prize money of Rs one lakh, a green printer trophy and a certificate. The last two editions of the award recognised The Times of India, Ahmedabad and The Times of India, Chennai respectively their effort to make their production greener.

“To be green, one does not have to invest heavily in systems or processes. Setting the mindset correct is the key to green printing. Instilling a green-consciousness in each employee of the organisation works wonders towards this achievement,” added Matthew.

To participate in the competition, the company has to document all its initiatives towards environment and green activities.  According to Matthew, these can be simple things such as planting a tree, recycling the water, reducing emissions, reducing wastage, reducing noise pollution, going for natural lighting and ventilation or even switching off an unwanted light.

The applications will be judged by an independent panel of experts and assigned a Green Quotient. The printers with the highest Green Quotient will be declared as Technotrans Green Printer 2013 and will be honoured at the award ceremony scheduled to be held in Chennai in August.
