TCPL Packaging, led by Saket Kanoria, is in its 25th year of operations. TCPL began its commercial production in April 1990 and since then it has grown to become one of India's largest manufacturers of printed folding cartons.

The Guwahati unit will house a seven-colour plus coater KBA Rapida 106. Besides the printing press, the plant will host ancillary equipment such as die-cutters and folder-gluers are from Bobst.

TCPL Packaging has ordered another high-end Rapida 106 in medium format from Koenig & Bauer (KBA). The new press will be equipped for printing board and film.

TCPL has been a regular buyer of KBA presses. According to the company, a new sheetfed offset press from KBA goes into operation annually at the sheetfed offset plant in Silvassa: a Rapida 106 with six inking units and coater in 2013, a Rapida 106 with seven inking units and coater in 2014 and an eight-colour Rapida 106 with coater and delivery extension will go live in 2015.

Aditya Surana, managing director at Indo Polygraph Machinery (IPM), which represents KBA in India, said, “TCPL goes into lot of details with regards to optional features and accessories they require such as logistics, online quality checks etc. For us, the multiple installations at one of the biggest packaging converters in India, is a success story.”

TCPL  prints and finishes 3,600 tonnes of carton every month or 43,360 tonnes per year. Its sales have risen from USD 1.31m in 1990/91 to USD 69m today.
