The firm which specialises in printing photo albums and catalogues has since the installation of Canon presses in June this year, printed 7-lakh A3 size sheets.

Ramnik Kagathara, owner of Pragati Digital Printing, said, “With demand for digital print on the rise, it was fast becoming necessary for us to catch up with surge, and the most likely way to do that was by adding equipment to our existing facility.” He added, “We saw the Canon C7010VP at Drupa and were impressed with the excellent quality and robust build. The new presses have certainly bolstered our capacity to provide colour print solutions to our customers.”

Before establishing Pragati Digital Printing in 2008, Kagathara started Pixel Printing in 2004 as a design studio outsourcing print from local printers. In 2008, he brought digital printing capabilities inhouse to start the new company.

Besides the three Canon presses, the Pragati Digital Printing is also equipped with Xerox 1000 and Xerox DC 5000 digital colour presses; and six Noritsu photographic processing machines. “We are pleased with the output of C7010VP and are planning to commission some more Cannon presses in future,” Kagathara said.

The Canon C7010VP which is capable of printing on coated as well as uncoated paper ranging from 60 gsm to 325 gsm offers value-added features such as variable data printing at 1,200 x 1,200 dots per inch resolution.

Pragati Digital Printing operates from a 1,500 sq/ft site in Surat and employs 15 persons.
