Pragati Offset installed a Steinemann machine in 2011 and later boosted this capacity with Wen Chyuans from TGS India.

When asked what sort of applications does Pragati use on these machines, Harsha Paruchuri said, “The Steinemann PUR-based lamination machine is suitable for high-volume jobs such as those with more than 25,000 sheets. Most of our jobs which require lamination have run-length of 5,000 sheets. So, for such low run-length jobs we deploy the Wen Chyuan machines.”

Speaking about the Steinemann, Paruchuri said, “The lamination machine not only achieves perfect surfaces but is also low on glue and power consumption, laminating more than one lakh sheets of 20x30-inch per day giving high speed and quality.  However, the machine has different rollers for different widths, so the changeover times is higher.  In cases where there are 10 jobs of 1,000 sheets, the changeover times of Steinemann are not feasible. In such cases, we rely on Wen Chyuan machines.”

Speaking to PrintWeek India, Rajesh Agarwal, managing director at SRK Technology, said: “The Steinemann Lotus 102SF is capable of doing film-to-board of 350 gsm and film-to-film lamination. The machine is solvent-free and capable of laminating various types of films like OPP, PET, PVC, nylon and metallised. It can laminate sheets of sizes 22 x 30cms to 102 x 142cms at the speed of 10,000 sheets per hour, thus fulfilling the needs for production in various print sectors, mainly commercial printing, book printers and packaging. The acetate film lamination on top of red metallised board gives the sheet a rich textured look. The applications cater to luxury and liquor packaging.”

Steinemann will exhibit in hall 1 at Drupa, alongside Heidelberg.

The Swiss firm has developed an offline inkjet spot coating line, the Dmax, in co-operation with coatings specialist Schmid Rhyner and German printer Druckhaus Mainfranken, which has installed the first – and so far only – Dmax device.
