SRF announces an entry into BOPP film market with Bruckner

Gurgaon-based SRF, an Indian multi-business entity engaged in the manufacture of technical textiles, chemicals, engineering plastics and packaging films, teamed up with Bruckner on 5 August 2011 for their entry into BOPP film market.

Bruckner is amongst the worldwide leading suppliers of production lines for high value mono- and bi-axially stretched film as well as equipment for the manufacture of cast film and sheet. It provides complete turnkey plants, laboratory and pilot lines.

The new 8.7m wide line will be located in Durban, South Africa. Bruckner will be the solution provider SRF in terms of equipment and service. Consequently, SRF will be ready to satisfy the market’s demands for high quality BOPP film with utmost efficiency and productivity.

SRF has a global workforce of around 5,500 employees and operations in three more countries: UAE, Thailand and South Africa. A market leader in most of its businesses in India, it also enjoys global leadership in some businesses. Within the packaging films industry SRF has become the second largest thin PET film manufacturer in India, with a current total capacity of 60,000 metric tons/annum.

The estimated Indian BOPP capacity was 289,000 tons/year in 2009 as against domestic demand of 204,000 tonnes. Major Indian BOPP producers include Cosmo Films, Jindal Poly Films, Max Speciality Products and Uflex.
