SPAI awards recognise the best in screen

Screen Printing Association of India (SPAI) felicitated the winners of SPAI-Fespa National and International Awards 2015, at a gala celebration at Sunville Banquets, Mumbai.

Ahmedabad's Marvel Art Gallery and Thane's Neat Graphics won SPAI gold plus and Fespa bronze awards, while Gautam Paper Udyog, Surat, Image Care, Ahmedabad, Spectrum Scan, Mumbai, and PRS Permacell, Mumbai bagged SPAI gold award.
 
Marvel Art Gallery won for fine art, books, and brochures category; Neat Graphics won for point of purchase (POP) products printed on all types of plastics, including plastic, backlit plastic and plastics printed on sheets.
 
Gautam Paper Udyog won for point of purchase (POP) - printing on paper and board, including paper banner and backlit papers; Image Care won under the category of calendars, postcards, greeting and Christmas cards; Spectrum Scan won under poster, single sheets and multi-sheets category; and PRS Permacell won for printed labels, fleet making, window decals, printed pressure sensitive substrates, plastics for promotion and decoration category.
 
Bhargav Mistry, president of SPAI, said, “About 80% of the revenue is generated from the industrial printing; there will be a growth of 7% each year in the screen printing industry while 35% growth is expected in next five years. It is important to take part in awards. Women do a better screen printing jobs, this is my observation from past 40 years.”
 
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation by Dr Sudhindra Tatti, chief operating officer at FlexE, National Centre for Flexible Electronics. In his presentation, he said, “India is still importing products like ink and paper and we are not promoting India. We are reaching out to the manufacturers to promote more of ‘Make in India’ in the country.” FlexE is involved in research and development activities in the area of organic and printable electronics.
 
Toshifumi Komatsu, VP, research and development at Photokina Chemicals, said, “The screen printing segment is a vibrant industry and it takes a lot of hard work to achieve a wonderful print.” Photokina Chemicals was one of the sponsors for the event.
 
Meeta Shah of A & M Enterprises, who was felicitated at the event said, “To encourage my employees and increase their level of excitement and take it to next level of working structure in the company had driven us to send the entry.”
