Screen print veterans and publishers in Goa

Beginning tomorrow is the Aditya Exposition-organised Screen Print India 2014. The 12th edition of the exhibition, with its focus on screen, textile and digital printing, will be held at The International Center Goa from 18-21 September.

The highlights of the exhibition are; the presence of leading exhibitors, and the Screen Print India Award ceremony. Marking their presence at the show will be Abhikruti Digi-Soft, Bodi Professional, Epson India, DuraTech Automation, Fujifilm Sericol, Grafica Flextronica, HP India, Kunal Enterprises, Repro Graphics, Skyscreen, Varsha Transprint and Riso India, among others. 

As for the awards, the winners across 35 categories will be presented with the metals on 18 September. The awards are categorised to encompass a wide array of applications of screen printing; T-shirt, (HD printing), vehicle decal (big), serigraphy, membrane graphic overlays, tags, aluminium printing (special effects), acrylic board, and ceramic (transfer printing), being some of the categories. 

The awards also include a special category - Women Entrepreneur Award, which will recognise the leading ladies in the industry. Key statistics about the awards...

A few kilometres away, is the two-day Publishing Next Conference (19 and 20 September), which will put the Indian publishing industry under focus. The conference, to be held in Panaji at Krishnadas Shama Goa State Central Library, will focus on the trends and opportunities in the book publishing industry. 

The conference will see in attendance publishers, editors, authors and service providers from across the country. The conference will offer panel discussions and "how-to" workshops across the spectrum of Indian language publishing, children publishing, e-publishing in India, eBook development and distribution, and translated literature among others.

The keynote address will be delivered by Ganesh Devy and the line up of speakers include  Vivek Goel, Bimal Mehta, Vinutha Mallya, Ravi Deecee, Anantha Padmanabhan, Vidyun Sabhaney, Hemant Divate, Shishir Jha, Guruprasad Narayana, Klaus Willberg and Meera Johri, among others.

The second day of the conference also marks the award presentation of the maiden edition of the Publishing Next Industry Awards.
 

The awards, according to Leonard Fernandes, co-founder, Publishing Next, have been introduced to recognise the innovation and leadership in the book trade segment across all Indian languages.
