Chetan Patel, managing director of the 17-year-old firm, said that at the moment return on investment (ROI) is not a question, providing post-product quality and service is. “We specialise in printing catalogues for ceramic tiles manufacturers, and the sheets are thick, heavily coated, inked and varnished; and at times our customers demand quick service. With the PUR facility, we will be able to quickly deliver the catalogues, because the process of stitching before the catalogue is perfect bound is eliminated.”

Sanket prints about 5,000 catalogue books in a day on the print floor, which boast of multi-colour presses, including a brand new Heidelberg SM-74 installed in 2011, a Stahl folding machine, a Polar cutting machine and a Welbound perfect binder bought a couple of months ago. The company hopes to PUR bind around 2,000 of these, using the new machine.

The Pur eBind Ultra is a newly designed nozzle-based system, which unlike the previous model, has a compact design, has brought the gluing module within the machine. “I was impressed with the look of the machine, as well as two of its many features – the option to set the glue layer as well as the head and tail cut-offs and the stacker,” said Patel.

He explains the two features. “The option to set the glue layer will help use the exact amount of glue required, minimising wastage, while the head and tail cut-off feature will apply glue to places where the cut-offs are set, making trimming easy and smooth besides enhancing the life of the trimmers.” Patel added, “The stacker helps good finishing eliminating manual intervention for undisturbed spine operation.”

The Rs six-crore turnover firm, Sanket, is one of the five top print-packaging firms, along with PrintWell Offset, Gujarat Printers, Vinayak Offset and Karachi Box.

Patel manages the print firm with his fellow friend, partner and managing director, Sudhir Patel.
