The motto of E Fernando, the managing director of Sahaya, is: We devote ourselves to print.

He said: “We always endeavour to provide unique solutions to our customers". The print company caters to many luxury brands including the Taj Hotels.

"We print in high gsm coated paper and use ink in abundance. It was a problem to bind these books as the hot melt adhesive reacts with the solvents in the printing ink. Thread sewing is not an option always as sometimes the thickness of paper signatures do not permit the needle to penetrate. Then there are book formats, like oblong (landscape) that do not go into thread sewing machines. So it has been our dream to upgrade technology to employ PUR."

"Welbound has been our partners for bookbinding since four years. In order to make a relatively new process like PUR successful, we needed to work with some one who will do the necessary hand holding. So it was a natural choice to go for the Welbound single-clamp PUR binder".

Suresh Nair of Welbound Worldwide, the supplier of the kit, said: "Sahaya Print has been supplied with a single-clamp binder that can run both normal hot melts and PUR. The applicator is roller type and the PUR station receives the optimum quantity of PUR from a Robapress Premelter (from Robatech AG of Switzerland)."

The binder has a unique stack delivery system that ensures that the book spine is not disturbed. The PUR adhesive is sourced from Henkel Adhesives. “India is fast adapting to PUR technology and there are six installations already”, said Nair.
