Rotometrics’ vice-president for global marketing and business development, Harrison Chien, speaking to PrintWeek India, said, at the moment, the office in Mumbai will act as a sales and service entity and will trade in Indian Rupees. “In due course, Rotometrics will also establish and develop a repair centre and a knowledge centre.”

Chien said time to deliver is the most important aspect of this business. “With this operation, we hope to bring this down considerably. Doing business in Indian rupee will be an additional advantage,” he added.

Stressing that the tags and labels segment is an emerging market in India, Parthasarathy said, “We are now in a position to offer clients a diverse range of tooling, including the AccuStar range, to help the Indian label converters conduct business today and in the future.”

Rotometrics has developed a dedicated blade geometry and offers an extreme leveled blade, allowing printers to convert pet liners down to 23 microns on a regular basis. “In combination with our market leading coating technology, such a die can last millions and millions of revolutions even when cutting through abrasive film coatings,” he said.

Parthasarthy said Indian label converters require around 100 dies per day, 20% of which is supplied by Rotometrics. “Our strongholds are the South and West regions of India. With our plans for India, we hope to cater to 50% of the market, now and in the future.”
